IS YOUR IRRIGATION SYSTEM READY FOR WINTER? - SPRINKLER WINTERIZATION SERVICES HILLSBORO, OR

The best way to guard against frozen or ruptured pipes is with annual sprinkler winterization services. Having a irrigation professional “winterize” your system by flushing out the pipes and shutting it down. It saves your irrigation from damage and ensures that your system will be ready to run when warm weather returns.

Sprinkler winterization services are key preventative service here in the PNW. While we may not always see snow (just a light dusting) the grounds get very cold at night and it's important to winterize your irrigation system.

  1. Prevent Expensive Repairs In The Springtime If an irrigation system isn't property winterized, water will be left in the pipes all winter. When temperatures get below freezing, the water will freeze and expand in the pipes, which could cause cracks in the pipes or on the fittings.

  2. Contractors Have The Right Tools Homeowners may not have the correct tools or knowledge to properly winterize their irrigation systems. For example, many homeowners might own an air compressor, but a standard air compressor isn't the right tool for the job. Reduce Your Stress & Ensure The Job Is Done Right!

Sprinkler Winterization Process:

  • Perform A Walk Through - Inspection of your irrigation system to allow an opportunity to correct or address any issues/repairs that may have popped up this year.

  • Locate Isolation Valves To Shut Off Water

  • Open Test Cocks on Backflow Device

  • Manually Open and Close All Station Valves

  • Blow Out The System - Areas that experience temperatures below 30 degrees need to be completely blown out to expel any water from the pipes. Failing to properly blow out an irrigation system can leak to cracked pipes, broken and failing backflow preventers and long-term damage for following years.
